Domestic certification scheme for Crown Gall free grapevine stock
..A domestic certification scheme for the production of grapevine free of Crown Gall is in the
early stages of development. The BC Wine Growers Council and the Grape Growers of Ontario are
taking the lead in initiating this program. The first step is to produce CG-free plants at
the CFIA, Centre for Plant Health, Sidney Laboratory (a.k.a. Saanich Agriculture Station).
Certified CG-free plants will then be distributed to nurseries for propagation and sale.
For information contact Margaret Green, Canadian Food Inspection Agency (Saanich Research Station)
